The classic "I Know"...

May 1, 2023

Perhaps it’s just something about the training that I received from the previous generation… or perhaps I grew up on an island (isolated instance not a tropical paradise )… either way, I am not the only one who has given direction to a child for something that I saw them do incorrectly and their token response was, “…I know…” Which leaves us in a grand stupor as we can not decipher why the words and the actions do not appear to be in harmony.

For example, a kid has a water bottle. In the middle of playing, said kid takes a break for water but doesn’t close the bottle. Just as the kid starts running off, you say, “close the bottle please.” The kid turns back towards you with a response of, “…I know…” and turns back around to close the bottle. Hmmm… something does not add up there.

Or, perhaps a kid gets out of a mini van and leaves the door open. As they start heading inside the building, you say, “please close the door.” The kid turns back towards you with a response of, “…I know…” and then turns around to return and close the door. Hmmm… something does not line up there.

Yet, how much different is that from our relationship with God. How many times does He remind us of various principles that are clearly outlined in the word OR order us to do something, and our response says loud and clear, “I know” despite our actions not being in alignment with the direction He has given us.

We can hear it over and over but the lesson is not learned until we put it into action. Until we apply the lesson, have we truly learned anything outside of defiance?

Our confession is not enough, our behavior needs to be in alignment (James2:20). Saying that we have faith, is not the same as demonstrating our faith (James2:26). Our words and walk need to match.

We serve an intentional God who says AND does, so why would we not do the same? We should not just hear what He says, but also do what He says to do (James1:22).

For example, God says, “come out from the world (2Cor6:17).” As you are heading out to actively participate in worldly behavior with worldly folks, you respond, “I know.” Yet, you proceed. Your announcement and your action are not in alignment… how do you expect to receive the blessing (James1:23-25)?

Let us learn from Our Teacher (1John2:27) Who was obedient until the end (Philip2:8) and gracious enough to send us The Helper (John14:26). He not only knew what The Father had assigned Him to do (John3:16), but He followed through to gain the prize (Heb10:12). Let us do the same, hear/ know the word AND do the word (James1:22)! #Godissogood #Undefeated

Excellent reminder, we must talk the talk and walk the walk! Actions speak louder than words. Blessings ❤️
