Halloween… hmmm…

Is it really just an innocent “holiday” that is celebrated annually… hmmm…

Is it really a day of celebration meant for ALL to participate… hmmm…

As followers of Christ, we don’t have to rely on opinions. We can have ALL of the questions that we want, and we are blessed to have The Truth, Who is all-knowing readily available to teach us with ALL of the answers (Job36:22).

So, many ask the question, and let us be very specific and explicit in our understanding, is it okay for Christ followers to celebrate Halloween?

No, and here are just a few Biblical reasons why:

1. This is a pagan/ worldly celebration/ tradition - we are called to come out from the world and be separate (2Cor6:17, Deut12:4, Zeph1:8). 2. This day honors the devil - we are to put NO god above God (Deut5:7, Deut6:5, Matt22:37). The word Hallow (also used in Matt6:9) (hagiázō) means, "to make holy, consecrate, sanctify; to dedicate, separate.” The word ween means, “to think or suppose or intend.” So this would be a making holy or dedication to the god who is always supposing or intending to be like God. 3. This day promotes the nature of the devil - we have a new nature in Christ (Eph4:24) and we are to pursue the pure character of Christ (Col3:10). The devil is always wearing a mask and in disguise pretending to be someone that he is not. He roams around intending to be LIKE a roaring Lion (1Pet5:8), he supposes himself to be LIKE an angel of light (2Cor11:14), he wanted to be LIKE the Most High (Isa14:14), etc. 4. This day is about copying and pretending to be - we are told not to copy the world because we have a genuine identity in Christ (Rom12:2). 5. This day often promotes dark activities- we are called to be children of light as He is in the light (Eph5:8, 1The5:5, 1Joh1:7, Joh8:12). 6. This day, just like the god of this world, has a blatant call to come "TRICK or treat," - we are called to go out and share The Truth like Jesus (Luk4:43, Mar16:15). 7. This day promotes haunted places and things that are intended to instill FEAR in the participants - we are called to share the love of Jesus Christ (2Tim1:7, Joh3:16).

We, as followers of Christ, can not take a day, orchestrated by the devil and carried out by the current world culture, modify it and play along. There is no gray or in between area because there is no gray or in between in The Kingdom. There are and will always be only two options, we are either for God or against God (Matt13:24-30). Since the beginning of chronological time, the devil has operated in deceit and deception, pretending to be helpful, slightly adjusting the truth, twisting things around to appeal to our flesh, supposing that this is another gray thing that promotes a third innocent option in different areas in hopes of tricking (Gen3) God’s most precious creation, mankind (Gen1:26-27).

Each day we must study His word (2Tim2:15, Hos4:6) and intentionally ask for discernment of spirit (1Cor12:10) and wisdom (Prov28:26, Jam1:5). 1. Discernment of spirit to identify who is walking in the disguise and the true identity of what is being put before us in each situation. 2. Wisdom on how God wants us to address each situation so that His will is done for His glory.

Do not be tricked or fooled (Prov23:1-3). We are ALL being discipled. The real question is… who is our leader? HINT: there’s only 2 options

May we walk boldly as lions (Prov28:1) with eyes to see and ears to hear (Prov20:12) the word of The Lord in this hour.
