Deeper intimacy...

September 1, 2023

Connection and nearness are a natural and essential part of life.

When babies are born, statistics show the major benefits of skin to skin contact for both Mom and baby. As time goes on, babies tend to sleep quicker and remain more sound asleep when in someone’s arms. Have you noticed that noise could be present and as long as the baby is cozily snuggled up in a pair of willing arms, they sometimes will not even budge or be affected by what is occurring around them at the moment?

What about newly weds? For some, cuddling becomes the new norm. After spending a great portion of life alone in a cold bed, canoodling is usually welcomed. Studies have also shown how simple touches (ie. holding hands, frequent hugs, etc.) and regular conversations contribute to a constant intimacy and connection that builds strength within a marriage.

Our relationship with God should be no different. We should strive to remain connected, aim to keep in His presence, desire a deeper intimacy with Him regularly that inevitably leads to a strong and consistently growing stronger relationship.

Jesus Himself went off to pray and seek The Father all throughout His life on Earth (Matt, Mark, Luke, and John). Even in His final hour prior to being arrested, the last thing He did was seek God (Matt26:36-44). He found comfort and strength for His journey, especially when it grew most difficult towards the end, by keeping connected to His Father (Luke22:39-46). Jesus, even as God, The Son who was walking with the power of God, The Holy Spirit, knew and understood the vital need to be in the presence of God, The Father (Mark14:32-41). The storms around us have less impact when we remain focused on Him (Matt14:24-33). Jesus was crucified on the cross (John19:17-20) with His arms wide open as an invitation for anyone to come to Him for eternal comfort (Matt11:28). This means that we CAN have a deep relationship with Christ Jesus, and He WANTS to have a deep relationship with us (John15:1-16). The desire for nearness is natural and critical because it all started with Him and His awareness in creating us (1John4:10,19). #Godissogood #undefeated #beintentional #sothankful
